Opening Times

Stansted Park, including the Farm Shop, Garden Centre and Pavilion Tearoom, is open daily year round (opening hours for each business may vary during public holidays)

The Farm Shop is open daily 10am - 4pm

The Garden Centre is open Mon-Sat 9am - 5:30pm, Sun 10:30am - 4:30pm

The Pavilion Tearoom is open daily 9am - 5pm

The Maze is open weekends and school holidays from Mothering Sunday until the end of the October school holiday from 11am - 4pm (last entry at 3:30pm), weather permitting. Admission is £2.50 per person.

The Light Railway is open on Wednesday and Saturday from 10am - 3:30pm, weather permitting. Admission is £3.50 for adults and £2.50 for children 

The Dutch Garden and Arboretum are open daily 9am - 5pm​​​

​The forest car parks are open daily 8am - 5pm

There is no entry fee to enter the estate and parking is free

Visit Stansted House

Stansted House and the Chapel of St Paul are open especially for Mothering Sunday.

Our season then runs from Easter Sunday to the end of September.

The House is open Sunday, Monday and Tuesday only from 1pm - 5pm (last admission at 4pm) from Easter Sunday 5th April to the end of September, except on particular days where it is closed for other events.

Directions

By Car

There is plenty of free parking in the main visitor car park at the South Entrance. Please use post code PO9 6DU

​By Rail

The nearest station is Rowlands Castle 

You can walk down the avenue directly from the station, it is approximately 2 miles and takes 45 minutes. This route is through woodland and grass paths - see directions

Taxis are available from nearby Havant and Emsworth stations

By Bicycle

There are plenty of road and trail cycle routes to Stansted Park. There is bicycle parking next to the Pavilion Tearoom. Please do not cycle within the Walled Garden, Arboretum or on the grounds around Stansted House.

Walking from Rowlands Castle

1. Exit the station and turn left onto Bowes Hill. You will reach a crossroads with the railway bridge to your left. 2. Turn left under the railway bridge onto Finchdean Road. 3. There is a sharp left hand bend in the road. On the opposite side of the road you will see an accessible gate. Cross the road and enter the forest through the gate. 4. Follow the path straight ahead and up a short hill. You will come out the path onto a grassy opening which is the end of the Avenue. Stansted House is straight ahead. 5. Walk the length of the Avenue until you get to a road. 6. You will see a lodge house on the opposite side of the road. Cross the road and walk down the tarmac drive sign posted 'North Entrance'. 7. Approximately 30 metres BEFORE you get to the black metal gates signposted North Entrance there is a bridleway between the field and trees on the right. 8. Follow the bridleway straight across and enjoy the vista of the front of Stansted House. 9. At the end of the path follow the tarmac road to your right then take the first left. You will arrive into a small car park. Walk to the end of the small car park and you will see a gate into the Walled Garden with the Pavilion Tearoom on your right. You have made it to Stansted Park! To enter the House and Chapel continue past the Pavilion Tearoom and turn left into the Dutch Garden. The gate is open during House opening times. Enjoy your visit!

Accessibility

Accessibility

We want to help you get the most out of your visit.  We welcome visitors of all interests and abilities. The Walled Gardens, Garden Centre, craft workshops and Pavilion Tea Room all have level access, but some paths in the grounds are gravelled.

Disabled parking bays are available in the main visitor car park outside the Garden Centre and directly next to the Pavilion Tearoom.

Disabled parking varies for different events, please check the event page directly or get in touch with us if you have any questions.

Stansted House is accessible by wheelchair platform lift and an inside passenger lift. We regret that we cannot accommodate mobility scooters or large powered wheelchairs in these, please call ahead of your visit to find out more information.

A mobility buggy operates during House Opening and can accommodate one wheelchair user and up to five passengers. It travels between the main visitor car park, the Chapel and the House and loops around while the House is open.

BRINGING A CARER

We offer one free of charge carer’s ticket with the purchase of the appropriate admission ticket for our events and to enter the House. Events organised by third parties may have other ticketing requirements, please check details on the relevant event page through our What's On page

 

We accept copies of the below as proof of carer's entitlement

  • Valid blue badge

  • DLA/PIP or equivalent - DLA must be middle or enhanced rate for care and mobility

  • Deaf or blind registration

  • Nimbus Access Card

  • National Disability Card

If your carer's entitlement is not demonstrable, we reserve the right to charge you for admission.  If you have any queries or concerns, please email enquiry@stanstedpark.co.uk ahead of time to discuss with our team.

Dogs

We welcome well-behaved dogs across many areas of the Estate, with the following guidelines in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all our visitors:

  • Forest Footpaths & Bridleways: Dogs are welcome but must be kept under close control at all times.

  • Walled Garden: Dogs are permitted on leads and must remain well-controlled throughout your visit.

  • Arboretum, Maze, Dutch Garden & House: Only assistance dogs are allowed in these areas.

  • Public Events: For safety reasons, dogs are not permitted at general public events unless otherwise specified.

​Please be considerate when picking up after your dog.

Getting to the House and Chapel

Please use postcode PO9 6DU and enter Stansted Park through the SOUTH ENTRANCE and use the main visitor car park (17) unless you are given other instructions with regards to the tour or event you are attending

On arrival you will see the Garden Centre (16) to the left and Farm Shop (14) on the right. Walk between those buildings and follow the path through the Maze Courtyard (13), past the Maze entrance and into the Walled Garden (8).

You will see the Pavilion Tearoom (9) ahead of you. To the right of the Tearoom there is a gate to the Dutch Garden (3). You can access the Chapel (2) and House (1) through the Dutch Garden.
