Enjoy a fun-filled family day out at Stansted House this summer, with kids visiting the House for free over the school holidays!
Step inside the family home of the Earls of Bessborough and discover what life was like on this beautiful country estate. Explore the beautiful State Rooms, where the family entertained guests, before moving downstairs to see the Servants Quarters.
Throughout August, we will also have a special trail for children to complete. Frederick Ponsonby, 10th Earl of Bessborough, adored birds and he kept many here at Stansted Park. As you walk around, see if you can spot all birds that are hiding around the House, Grounds and Chapel of St Paul.
Stansted House is open Sunday-Tuesday, 1pm-5pm (last admission at 4pm).
For those wanting to complete the bird trail, we advise arriving no later than 3pm to give you enough time to finish the trail.

Q: Can I buy a ticket on the door?
A: Yes, tickets will be available to purchase on the door but prebooking is advised.
Q: How much does the bird trail cost?
A: The bird trail is included in your entry ticket to Stansted House. The trail will start in Stansted House and finish in the Chapel of St Paul.
Q: Are dogs allowed inside Stansted House and the Chapel of St Paul?
A: Unfortunately only assistance dogs are allowed inside the House and Chapel.
Q: Can I take photographs inside the House?
A: Photographs without the use of flash may be taken inside the House. Tripods are not allowed inside the House. Please note that drones are not allowed anywhere on the Estate without prior permission from the Stansted Park Foundation.
Accessibility
Accessible parking spaces are available in the South Entrance Car Park opposite the Garden Centre. A buggy service runs between the House, Chapel and Car Park during House opening and can accommodate up to five passengers, including one wheelchair user.
A step-free visitor route is available around the House via two lifts. Please note that due to the size of one of the lifts, we may not be able to accommodate some motorised wheelchairs or mobility scooters. Two wheelchairs are available in the House on a first come, first served basis.
