Visit Stansted House over the August Bank Holiday and enjoy an Upstairs, Downstairs experience as you explore the family seat of the Earls of Bessborough.
Discover the beautiful State Rooms, once used by the family to entertain guests, before venturing downstairs to explore the fully furnished and extensive Servants Quarters. The Chapel of St Paul will also be open to visitors.
Children can visit Stansted House for free, with a special trail around the State Rooms and Servants Quarters to enjoy and the opportunity to play traditional games in the Servants Hall.
Stansted House and the Chapel of St Paul will be open between 11am-3pm, with last entry at 2pm, on Sunday 30 August, Monday 31 August and Tuesday 1 September 2026.

Q: Can I buy a ticket on the door?
A: Yes, tickets will be available to purchase on the door but prebooking is advised.
Q: Are dogs allowed inside Stansted House and the Chapel of St Paul?
A: Unfortunately only assistance dogs are allowed inside the House and Chapel.
Q: Can I take photographs inside the House?
A: Photographs without the use of flash may be taken inside of the House. Tripods are not allowed inside the House. Please note that drones are not allowed anywhere on the Estate without prior permission from the Stansted Park Foundation.
Accessibility
Accessible parking spaces are available in the Garden Centre Car Park. A buggy service runs between the House, Chapel, and South Entrance Car Park during House opening and can accommodate up to five passengers, including one wheelchair user.
A step-free visitor route is available around the House via two lifts. Please note that due to the size of one of these lifts, we may not be able to accommodate some motorised wheelchairs or mobility scooters. Two wheelchairs are available in the House on a first come, first served basis.
