About the event

The year is 1831 and the current Earl has invited fellows of the Royal Society to the magnificent surroundings of Stansted House to discuss the growing issue of the Resurrectionist or body-snatchers! Since the publication of Frankenstein in 1818 there is a new trade in supplying bodies to the many science institutes for dissection, many of the methods are morally corrupt but NOT illegal. There is a new Act of Parliament proposed that will put this trade out of business – but not everyone supports it. The Earl is hoping that by getting together the greatest minds in this field that they will convince Parliament to pass the Act. But some will stop at nothing to prevent this… including murder. As you explore the house you may make startling discoveries yourself!

Imagine being invited to a mysterious Country Estate by an enigmatic host… with a room of curious guests your host never appears… the clock is ticking, and you must work as a team to investigate what happened.

- Well, that is exactly what will happen when you join Torchlight Mysteries for a truly immersive Murder Mystery at Stansted House.

- You will be tasked to interrogate the suspects in the magnificent setting of Stansted House and find out which of the guests, or servants, could be capable of murder. Use your best sleuthing skills to piece together the trail of clues as you make your way around the House, and after you have interrogated the suspects, you must reach your conclusion as tea and coffee are served.

ARRIVAL

Follow directions to NORTH ENTRANCE (ESTATE OFFICES) rather than House, Gardens or Garden Centre as this gate will be closed. Follow signs to the Estate Office Car Park - which will bring you to a car park to the SIDE of the house. Walk down to the front of the House where the Valet will be there to greet you.

Throughout the evening,  you will have a chance to interrogate the suspects and explore the House for clues. You must be escorted by your host when exploring clues - this is for your own safety.  There are stairs involved to get upstairs and you will be going into some very dark spaces... hope you are not scared of the dark?

DRESS AND ATTIRE

The period is 1830s and also Halloween, we encourage everyone to enter into the spirit of the night by dressing appropriately (but not compulsory).
