War & Peas; a family’s story of the Falklands War
This unusual talk is about a husband at sea in the Falklands War as Second in Command of a frigate, and his wife living in Westbourne with two young children and another on the way. Rear Admiral John Lippiett and his wife Jenny wrote a book and also this talk at the behest of the Royal Naval Museum for its 25th anniversary of the war. They have been asked to give it many times since as it tells the story of the families left at home in times of war - so often forgotten in times of stress. They will read extracts from their letters through those months, and pain and humour come through in equal proportion. Extracts from these letters also were broadcast on the Today programme at times through that anniversary in 2007.
