Jimmy Alderson is a pianist from Portsmouth. He began playing piano at the age of 12, and began formal lessons at 16, under Valentina Seferinova at South Downs College (now HSDC). After this, he continued his studies at Southampton University, having graduated in 2022.
Over this time, Jimmy has performed at several concerts and competitions, such as Turner Sims, the Portsmouth Music Festival, and John Ireland Prize. Outside of music, Jimmy's primary pursuit is judo.
The title of tonight's programs is inspired by the "36 Views of Mount Fuji", a collection of woodblock paintings by the Ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai. Similar to this compendium, this repertoire is connected by impressions of winds and sunrises, but contrasted in mood and story.
