It gives me great pleasure to draw your attention to the work of the Friends of Stansted Park ( FOSP ).
Stansted Park attracts thousands of visitors every year, drawn by its great beauty and tranquility, excellent facilities and a long and fascinating history.
The Friends of Stansted seek to support the work of the Stansted Foundation by making donations to capital projects, encouraging educational experiences and promoting awareness of its great diversity in, and beyond, the local area.
Since the Friends were formed in 1998, significant contributions have been made towards the restoration of the Victorian Dutch Garden and the conservation of the unique Chapel window.
I invite you to consider joining us in our support of the Stansted Park Foundation whose dedicated work has lead to formal recognition of the estate as being one of the Best Small Attractions in the south east.
If you decide to become a Friend of Stansted you can be assured of a warm welcome. There is, in addition, the satisfaction of being involved in a vibrant, lively estate that is considered to be one of the finest in the south of England.
Stansted Park Foundation was set up as a charity by the 10th Earl of Beesborough in 1983 so that the public could enjoy the benefits of the “ Enchanted” forest and the House and Grounds in perpetuity. Shortly after the House opened to the public in 1987 the Friends of Stansted House was formed and later the Friends of the Forest. In 1988 the two groups were amalgamated to form the Friends of Stansted Park.
Today the membership of FOSP stands at over 400. The support given by the Friends runs into many spheres of the work of the Foundation in terms of volunteering, fundraising, stewarding and helping to raise the Foundation’s profile locally. Please feel free to offer as much or as little time as you can spare. Alternatively, you may wish to support the Foundation as a member only. By becoming a Friend of Stansted Park you can help the Foundation achieve its aims and preserve Stansted for posterity.
Since the formation of FOSP, a steady flow of financial donations has been given to the Foundation. Most of these have enabled projects to be enjoyed by the visitor to the Estate and include;
