Stansted park is pleased to have a Forest School within our wonderful woodland. The Forest School is run by a local outdoor education charity Releasing Potential. Releasing Potential Forest School have been operating at Stansted Park for last 5 years providing Forest school to school groups and holiday activities.
Forest School holiday activities are for children aged 4 -11 or Year R - Year 6. The activity days are run by Mikey Pearce and his Forest School team, who are assisted by colleagues from the Releasing Potential. All staff are extremely experienced in working with children, have an up to date first aid qualification and are DBS checked. A good ratio of staff to young people, ensures that the children have as much help and attention as they need. The range of activities is enormous and children are always inventing new ways of playing in the forest; it is not unusual, therefore, for children to participate in a number of activity days in the same holiday period.
The Forest School Activity Day runs from 8:30am - 3:30pm. Price is £25 per child per day. Children need to bring with them a packed lunch, suitable footwear and protective clothing appropriate to the weather conditions.

Releasing Potential deliver Forest School for schools, nurseries, home education and local SEN provisions across West Sussex and Hampshire. They can offer year long or shorter courses which enable participants to enjoy the forest and learn about it as the seasons unfold.
With the ability to focus provisions around any particular themes, needs, skills or ideas the school require the children to work on, Forest School can fit easily in to the current curriculum. This can be delivered as part of the school day. They are able to tailor provision to the age of the groups and have worked successfully with young people of all backgrounds and abilities, from nursery to year 11. Transport can be arranged to and from the Forest School site depending on the size of the group. Hot chocolate is made over an open fire and provided at breaks as part of the Forest School experience.
"It's incredible! Alexander is taking part through his nursery doing amazing things! They gather wood and (independently) light a fire using spark keys, make paint from clay, chalk, acorns and mud. They use saws and hand drills to make necklaces from wood, climb trees and do all sorts of things we wouldn't think possible of 3/4 year olds. They work together and communicate with each other with respect - amazing!"
