School Visits to Stansted Park - now a LOtC Quality Badge Holder
"We had fabulous days with you. Thank you so much for all you did to make our school trips so successful" Clanfield Junior School
"The children thoroughly enjoyed their day and are still talking about their visit!" Tangmere Primary
Stansted Park is a friendly stately home in acres of beautiful grounds and a valuable and accessible resource for all ages, to enjoy and inspire! We have just been awarded (2010) a Quality Badge for Learning Outside the Classroom by the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom. The national Quality Badge combines for the first time learning and safety into one easily recognisable badge for all organisations providing learning outside the classroom experiences.
" Dear Cook. Thank you very Much. I enjoyed the tour a Lot"
Schools love our unique fully-furnished Servants' Quarters, a real contrast to the splendid mansion rooms above. Hundreds of original artefacts and historic portraits are on display. You can download a poster with more ideas and information or look at our 'gallery' page to see inspiration for the Victorians, Upstairs-Downstairs life, or the Second World War experiences of Evacuees at Stansted Park.
" My favourite room was the library because it has lots of beautiful feather pens"
For younger groups, learning is through handling and role–play in small groups. Look and listen to stories about artefacts, people and places. Stansted Park is an inspirational learning resource for investigation, comparison, looking for evidence and discussion.
" I learnt that servants weren't usually seen"
Art work, design, and stories, music, drama and history, can be based on real characters and real objects that will fire your imagination. Domestic life can be re-lived, discussed and brought to life 'below stairs.' Children can handle 'mystery objects' and help the Cook or the Housekeeper in their work.
"These are some things I enjoyed most:dressing up like a footman, the tour of the house and learning a lot about the Victorians!"
School groups of all ages can book visits from March to October when the house is not open to the public, with experienced guides. We will discuss your particular curriculum focus, project or interest prior to your visit to decide on appropriate activities.
" I Think Stansted House is the Best. I still act as a Footman"
Indoor and outdoor picnic facilities are available for pre-booked groups. We give all children free leaflets, postcards and a free re-admission ticket so they can return with their family for a visit.
" When we looked under the beds and saw the potties we laughed our heads off"
We welcome visits by school and college groups of all ages and abilities to Stansted Park and we are easily accessible for coaches and signed from the A3 (M) J2 for Emsworth (south) and A27 at Havant (north) within easy reach of Portsmouth and Chichester.
" I really enjoyed the trip to Stansted House, you were a very good guide and all the things were fascinating and it was amazing how people lived in those days, it's like another world! Thank you for showing us round"

"Thank you so much for today. The children were so enthused and excited and learnt so much! When we got back to school I couldn't keep them quiet - they had loads of questions for each other and wanted to talk about all the things they loved. They really had a fantastic day which they will remember for years!
From a teachers point of view, I was overwhelmed with how organised you were and how fantastic everyone is with facts and their obvious very keen, genuine interest". Barncroft Junior School - Year 3 teacher
