Families at Stansted Park

“We have taken our family to many stately homes, but have never been made so welcome by the house staff. Well done and thank you” Family P.

Stansted Park has something to offer the whole family.  Rain or shine, there is plenty to do - explore the well maintained grounds and arboretum and take in the stunning setting, take a tour of the house and chapel, or visit some of the many other attractions on site.

"Absolutely fascinating. Loved every minute. Thank you" J&R.

All year round the grounds and forest are open to the public. There are safe footpaths and bridleways across the estate. Car parks are open until 5pm. Stansted Park's OS location ref. is SU 761 103, and our postcode is PO9 6DX. See the 'Forest' page for more information about the Estate's woodland.

"It was totally cool and the staff were so helpful!" G.

The Stansted House Garden Centre (under new management), the Pavilion Tea Room, Salon du Chocolat, Jewellery workshop 'Buttercup Blue' and Stansted Park Light Railway are all great family attractions and open all year round. Do contact them for details of their children's events and activities during the holidays. There is a picnic area with tables and plenty of free parking.

"Brings back my childhood!" M.M.

Inside the mansion, the state rooms are furnished as if the Earl’s family were still at home, and the amazing servants’ quarters downstairs are jam-packed with fascinating rooms to explore and old-fashioned things to see. What will you remember? Our guides will tell you all about life here in times gone by. Perhaps you will meet the cook, the butler or the housekeeper!

The house and chapel are open part-time from Easter to September but there are events here and other attractions open all year.  Please check in advance of your visit for our opening times over event weekends.
